Dr. Matius Ho
Executive Director of the Leimena Institute in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Since 2021, he has been leading an education program initiative — the Cross-Cultural Religious Literacy — that train K-12 madrasa and school teachers on competencies to build social capital and strengthen social cohesion in a diverse society. Within 3 years, in partnership with the Indonesian government and civil society organizations, the program has reached more than 10,000 teachers of various religious backgrounds from all the provinces in Indonesia. As the initiative is also attracting interests outside Indonesia, he is collaborating with other institutions to share the experience and lessons learned from Indonesia to other countries. For his contributions and efforts towards building a peaceful and harmonious society, he was awarded honorary Doctor of Divinity by Henry Martyn Institute – International Centre for Research, Interfaith Relations and Reconciliation in Hyderabad, India. He contributed the chapter on Indonesia in The Routledge Handbook of Religious Literacy, Pluralism, and Global Engagement (eds. C. Seiple, D.R. Hoover, 2021).
